12 Days of Christmas – Quick, Easy & Inexpensive Gift Idea

Last year I made these fun little Santa-tizers for some teachers when I did a 12 Days of Christmas gift theme. I think they make great little stocking gifts, party favors, co-worker gifts, etc.

These are just 2 oz. purse size sanitizers that you can find inexpensively, especially during flu season.  I used clear tape to attach the tag directly over the label on the bottle.

I put the tags in my Etsy shop today if you want to make your own!

Monster Pencils for Halloween Class Favors

Happy October!   Is everyone ready for a fun and easy craft?  I found this super fun idea on 36th’s blog.  How cute are these do-it-yourself monster pencils?!

All you need are some fun pencils, colored pom poms and googly eyes.  I used my hot glue gun to hold everything together.

Halloween Monster Pencils from mudpiestudio.blogspot.com

Some of my monsters have one eye and some have two.  Since I’m making these for a class, the teacher gets the only one with 3 eyes.  I figure the teacher needs the most eyes to keep track of all their little monsters.  =)

Halloween Treat Bag Labels

Last year I created some Halloween treat bag labels for a carnival at my kids’ school.  Y’all remember this?

Halloween Treat Bag Labels from mudpiestudio.blogspot.com

Well, they seem to be gaining some online interest thanks to Facebook and Pinterest, and I’ve seen requests for a mix of all four.  So this year, I’ve created just that!

“Monster Mash” is a combination of all the goodies in one bag!  Chocolate chips, cereal, marshmallows and candy corn.  I know plenty of little monsters that would love this!  Don’t you?!

Digital files for all of these labels and more are available on my Etsy!

Camping Theme Breakfast & Party Favors

So we treated the teachers to a back to school camping themed breakfast.  Here’s a few of the table centerpieces I created to add to the festivities…

This one includes a mini-fir tree from my Christmas stash, some Lincoln Logs and crayons I borrowed from my kids, and a couple of battery operated tea lights.  Did I mention the decor was pretty much free stuff I found around the house?

Camping Theme Teacher Appreciation Breakfast

This centerpiece includes another mini fir tree wrapped in burlap, a “tackle box” (aka my daughter’s new pencil box), and a paper sack filled with “fish bait” gummy worms.

This was an easy addition – peppermint “Owltoids” in a glass bowl:

Another prop from my daughter, I perched this teddy bear in an iron-garden-trough-thingy I found in my craft stash.

This centerpiece was easy to make with a few paper sacks with scrapbook paper made to look like owls. I found the idea for this on Pinterest here.

I still haven’t found a use for this square grassy wreath I found at Tuesday Morning last year.  But it worked for this centerpiece with a lantern and candle I had in my living room.  I added burlap and baker’s twine to the candle along with a battery operated tealight. Easy peasy.  And free.  =)

I also made tent cards to decorate the tables.

Here’s a look at a few of those tent cards up close:

And this one is by far my favorite.  Friends still makes me laugh. Tweaked from the brilliant art found at this campsite.

Finally, I made some S’more treats as a party favor for all the teachers and staff.  Just take two of these deluxe graham cookies and a stacker mallow…

Camp Theme Bulletin Boards

It’s almost back to school for my kiddos, and their school theme this year is camping.  I’ve done a few bulletin boards for teachers and PTA and thought I’d share.

For this first one, I painted 12 different book characters around a campsite.   All ages will enjoy this one…Welcome to Camp Read A Lot!

Teacher Appreciation Week

This week I did my PTA thing and organized some fun activities for the teachers and staff at my kids’ school to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week.

Teacher Appreciation Week Bulletin Board - mudpiestudio@blogspot.com

Monday – The week started with a Strawberry Shortcake Buffet for the whole staff.  We set up in the lounge and served teachers/staff during their lunch break.

Nine loaves of pound cake, ten pounds of strawberries, and 3 cans of whip cream later … I’d say it was a successful day and the teachers loved the treat!

Tuesday –For Superhero Day, we asked the kids to wear their superhero tshirts to honor their teachers.  (If they didn’t have a superhero tshirt, we told ‘em to be their teacher’s sidekick and wear their teacher’s favorite color instead.)
All heroes have special tools, so we also told the kids to bring their teachers a special “tool” (school supply) to stash their toolkits.
I created this big comic-book inspired bulletin board that reads “Teachers! Able to Leap into our Hearts in a Single Bound”.  (The black and yellow is butcher paper, and I painted random white windows with acrylic paint. Easy!)

Teacher Appreciation Week - Superhero Day - mudpiestudio@blogspot.com

I made each teacher a custom Superman logo (with their initial) on their door with their awesome superpowers. Here’s a second grade teacher with her sign that reads “Shaping young minds one lesson plan at a time” and “Teacher by day, superhero by night”:

I covered the hall ways with lots of fun superpowers we know our teachers could have:

Dessert was mini cupcakes and brownie bites. Cupcake stand was recycled boxes we wrapped with wrapping paper.
